A Few Surprising Things You Didn’t Know About Trucking
Trucking seems pretty simple, at face value: you load up your cargo, strap on your toolbox, make sure your custom headache rack is in place, put your destination in your GPS and away you go! After all, truckers are basically just driving, right? It’s like your commute to work, except the commute is the work. Well you couldn’t be more wrong. Trucking is not only risky, it is truly an art that must be mastered if it is to be done properly. So here are a 3 things you may not have known about trucking.
-
It is dangerous work!
Trucking is in the top ten most dangerous jobs in North America. Why? There are plenty of reasons. First, driving any kind of vehicle comes with inherent risks associated with it. It can be unpredictable, and the chances of getting into an accident increase with so much time spent on the road. Drivers encounter every sort of weather and terrain imaginable, and sometimes come across unique situations where they have to act fast. This is why they require rigorous training to know what to do to both prevent and manage crashes. A few tips? Make sure to always have a custom headache rack on your truck, as this will prevent you from becoming a pancake in the event of a sudden screeching halt. Your load may shift forward but you will remain unscathed.

Trucking is the heartbeat of the country
Up to 80% of our goods are delivered by truck. So when you see them on the road, liken them to your own circulation system, pumping blood throughout your whole body. In the same way, these trucks pump goods to even the remotest areas, which ensures a high quality of life for all the residents of this country. That Christmas present you ordered online for a loved one? Probably arriving by truck. The food at your grocery store? Truck. The goods you consume from overseas? Yes, they come by boat or plane, but they are then promptly loaded into, you guessed it, trucks.

Truckers Are Big on Charity!
Truckers may seem swarthy and gruff, with their large semis, piled high with logs, headache racks looming high. But beneath that hard exterior is a profession that genuinely cares about the community. For example, many trucker groups are involved in raising money for cancer research. Others still contribute their time and resources to bring shelter animals to their forever homes. And let’s not forget that when the wind blows the roof off of your house, or a flood happens, or any sort of disaster strikes, truckers are the first on the scene to deliver much needed supplies, and a dose of morale to boot.
So next time you see a truck go by, think of the brave person inside, doing a dangerous job to ensure the country’s well-being. We are all lucky to have them.
