The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up Your Semi Truck After Winter
Winter wear makes everything look ten years older—the outside of your rig, the inside of the cab, your semi truck accessories, and your shoes! We recently provided you with some tips for driving during the spring season (Part 1 and Part 2), but how do you repair the damage done by your winter of driving along winter roads? Well, preventative maintenance during the cold season aside, there’s no such thing as the feeling of satisfaction you get from a good spring cleaning. So roll up your sleeves, and put on the audiobook version of “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up”, because we, along with Marie Kondo, are about to spark some joy.
The Outside Truck and Semi Truck Accessories
Do you wish that once winter is over you could just slide your truck through a car wash and call it a day? Well you can keep dreaming, because no car wash in the world is powerful enough to polish such a large beast. Our suggestion? Get a pressure washer. This oft-neglected semi truck accessory can be a lifesaver when it comes to looking professional despite the whims of Mother Nature. When operating, select a pressure that does not do any damage to your truck’s exterior. Start with lower pressure and build it up slowly, so you are efficiently removing dirt and grime without hurting the paint. Don’t forget the underbelly, muffler, and wheel wells!
Looking good? Perfect. Now it’s time to apply some wax. This will make the exterior shine like your semi truck and its semi truck accessories are brand new.
The Interior of the Cab
Now that you are strutting around town like a shiny peacock, it is time to turn your attention to the interior of the cab. Your boots have been dragging in salt and rocks, and the air has grown stale. Firstly, check your mats. Are they rubber? If not, the following cleaning protocol will ensure that you won’t forget rubber mats next year:
- Make a solution of vinegar, detergent and warm water
- Rub in circles in your mats so the salt comes to the surface, and then dab with a towel to absorb
- Repeat as necessary until all the salt comes out.
Done? Yes? Do you now have a different idea of how valuable a semi truck accessory rubber mats can be? Thought so.
Now clean your windows, replace your cabin air filter, pick up those Tim Horton’s wrappers, and perhaps add a bit of organizational flair with a simple milk crate and a garbage bin so your papers don’t end up strewn about. These small steps can help the space feel more like a home. Marie Kondo is smiling.
As long as you thoroughly cover both the inside and outside parts of the truck, and purchase the small semi truck accessories such as that make a big difference, your clean-up can leave you feeling like you are driving a whole new truck. And remember that although a good spring cleaning is important when saying goodbye to winter and hello to the sunny skies ahead, it is important to consistently clean during the winter to ensure that all of the salt, muck and debris that adhere to your vehicle is taken care of and not slowing you down. Happy driving, and happy tidying!
